Welcome

Welcome to my blog! Now that Danny is traveling again, a diary would be somewhat theraputic. Why not make it so the world can see! I love reading all of my friend's blogs. I'm basically keeping up with what's going on in their lives like a voyeur, but with the best of intentions! :) Now it's time for me to try the blog thing and y'all can keep up with me. It's hard staying in contact living so far away. Danny and I are working on getting back to SC. I'll have more on that another time...

Katie will be 5 weeks old on Saturday. I had her 1 month checkup scheduled for tomorrow but had to reschedule for next week. Danny realized that he forgot to fax in the health plan change form to add her to our insurance. He realized this on Monday, May 28th (Memorial Day) at 9:30 pm. Katie's birthday is April 28th and Monday was the 30 day deadline. We were freaking out. Our neighbor has a fax machine and Danny was able to fax the paperwork into the benefits office in time and on Tuesday morning they took care of everything. BUT, the benefits office sends these forms to our insurance company once a week and until the forms are sent, Katie is not insured. (scary thought) The woman on the phone didn't know what day they are sent because she was filling in for someone... blah, blah, blah...but I keep checking the website to see. When Katie's name pops up on the website, I will breath much easier. Danny and I were envisioning a world in which we had to pay out of pocket for immunizations and all of her monthly checkups until open enrollment in January. (another scary thought)

Had a friend loan me their Baby Bjorn front carrier. It is so much better than the Evenflo Snuggly. Don't let anyone you know buy the Snuggly! Pay the extra money for the Baby Bjorn, it's worth every penny. Katie has already started using her "diva" status and wants to be held as much as possible. That's hard to do with a 2 1/2 year old. I put her in the front carrier when we are inside playing. It gets a little hot for both of us when we are outside. The one drawback to the front carrier is the drolling, etc. that occurs on the front of my shirt when I have her so close. The benefits far outweigh the drool, though! I love having her so close. If you have ever had a baby fall asleep on your chest you know what I mean!

I'll let this be the end of my first post. I want explore the rest of the blog stuff (uploading pictures, etc.) and take a shower before Katie wakes up again.

Congratulations on your blog! I'm so glad we'll be able to keep up with you guys, no matter where you are. Posting pictures isn't too hard. I need to figure out the video posts myself, but I'm sure that will come. Hope all is well!!

I also hated the snuggli. It must only be for small babies. When Katie outgrows the bijorn, which will probably be tomorrow with those Goldrick genes, try the Ergo.
