I have a few beefs about high school students, especially lazy ones. I could rant about learned helplessness or students that think they should be allowed to sleep in class because they stayed up until 12am. Students that fail tests but don't make the allowed cheat sheet (which is also worth 5 bonus points) and then wonder why their 9 weeks grade is so low. Students that don't take notes because they are "paying attention" in class and then don't know how to do the HW. Students who spend more time trying to figure out the lowest test grade they could make to pass rather than spending that same amount of time studying....
I'll stop now. I'm getting annoyed.

I think at least 75% of that rant should be directed at the parents.... maybe more. where'd ya think they learned it from... or didn't learn anything, for that matter...
I think the percentage could be upped to at least 92.
Hey, I can trump that--I have 2 10th graders who each have 2 kids !! I have at least 4 others with one kid.... I'd be happy if they could do math, or at least the mutiplying themselves part...
I think they have the "multiplying" down pat...ba-dump-bump.
