Potty Training

Ty is learning how to pee-pee in the potty, ladies and gentlemen. We are tired of paying for diapers and tired of changing "man poop". For those that don't know, "man poop" is the product of a child that eats "man food" and has poop that should probably be a product of a man, NOT a 3 year old child. It has become a topic of discussion with our sitter on a regular basis, because she is truly concerned for, shall we just say, his "safety".

Anyway, back to the potty training. We took Ty to Target to pick out his very own Big Boy Underwear. Ty chose Thomas and Spiderman. After coming back home, taking off his diaper (which he very ceremoniously did himself) and donning a Spiderman pair, within 6 minutes, Ty had wet through 3 pairs of underwear. (We since went back and picked up another 3 pack of Transformers.) Danny and I did not like the looks of this. Then we got smart and remembered the Halloween candy. "Hey Ty, if you pee pee on the potty you will get some M&M's." Immediately Ty ran to the bathroom and peed in the potty. I didn't know what to do other than scream my head off! "Yeah Ty, you did it!" I'll try to take a video of us doing the "pee pee in the potty" dance. It's great.

I'm sending 6 extra pairs of underwear and pants and 1 extra pair of socks (for the dribble) to day care tommorow to cover accidents. I'm curious to know how many will return clean and how many dirty. I'll let you know!

YEAH TY!!

I like your style. My anal-retentive mom put a jar of M&M's by the potty and when I went I got to pick ONE M&M out of the jar to eat (I'm sure after I washed my hands.)

A friend of mine said when she potty trianed her little boy they played "sink the cheerio" to better, um, work on his stnading aim. Throw that cheerio in and let him sink that baby.

WE went from diapers to pull-ups to underwear, and that helped the accidents. And we also bribed our child with m & m's. Good luck!

It will go quick and mopping the floor a couple of times is so worth not having to change anymore man poop diapers. I feel your pain, sister!!

I didn't mean WE, I meant We - sorry, didn't mean to put an emphasis on the WE. I hate typing.....

Ty came home in the same pair of pants and underwear! Pooping on the other hand....'nother story.
