Ty and Katie both have head colds and coughs, but Ty has been running a fever off and on for the last few days. He has gone to daycare every day, played, eaten, etc. normally. Today was different. Beth told me that he maybe said 20 words by lunch time. He even fell asleep on the playroom floor, which means he must have curled into a ball the size of a roly-poly, because there's not much room for sleeping in there! So, I brought him home at normal time and within 30 minutes his fever was back (101') and he was asleep on the recliner. Should I call off work tomorrow and just let him sleep at home or should I go to work and let him have a blah day at daycare? My plan is to see how he does tonight. If he is restless and doesn't get a good nights sleep (like last night) then I'll stay home with him.
OK, so I just read what I wrote and I feel awful for even considering to send him feeling anything other than 100%. I am currently teaching Algebra A and PreCalculus and both groups are testing or quizzing on Friday. Tomorrow would be OK to miss. I'm going to email sub plans right now.

I have sent the girls to school before when they are sick, but only if they weren't running a fever. Because they are fever nazi's at my daycare, and I would get about 5 miles down the road before they would call me. And I know it is bad to send my children to school when they have a cold or cough, because I wouldn't want other parents to do it, but I have to work. And, wow, that sounded very selfish.
That's exactly what was going through my head and it's not selfish. I told someone that if Ty was a grown up with these symptoms he would have had to take some kind of sinus medicine, suck it up and go to work. As a 3 year old, there's only so much out there to make it better, especially since the whole cough-syrup-recall thing recently.
I so feel your pain. My first thought whenever any of the kids is sick is "are they well enough to go anyway?" It makes me feel horrible.....
