The color of the sun

The time has come for us to play outside again! Sounds exciting, which it is, but depressing when you compare it to the time already spent outdoors by my Southern friends and family. I need to stock up on bubbles, chalk and the like from probably some place like the Dollar Store or Big Lots. We had a gorgeous weekend here and we got to spend 1 afternoon at the zoo. I packed a lunch and we were there at 9am when it opened so we could skip the crowds. When we got home we played outside some more and all of us got some much needed sun. Katie got a little color in her cheeks (a healthy pink) but I did a good job of fighting with her hat and keeping her in the shade. I told Ty that we all got some color and he seemed confused because no one was covered in paint or marker. I had to clarify that we were all colored by the sun!

He has been thrown off by the daylight when he goes to bed and will stay awake singing or reading to himself. Tonight I heard him singing "Jesus Loves Me". Finally a church reference that doesn't involve doughnuts!

Like Madhatter's little one, Katie turns 1 this month (3 weeks from today, to be exact) and she is teething but is not having any pain issues. Diaper issues...another story! Katie is ready for a sippie and I need to schedule in a trip to Target (my fav) to pick up some for her. I think she is going to need the softer nipple type rather than the harder plastic type. She is quickly getting bored with baby food and begs for anything off of our plate. Tonight she shared bits of a cheeseburger with me! She's my little Templeton. (Do you remember who he is?)

As for me, now that I can get outside and wear my Rainbows, I'm a happy girl. I just can't stand having to be inside all winter. I'm not into winter sports (or being cold for that matter) so 70+ weather suits me just fine! I've done a good job of coming down from my Diet Coke dependency. I had gotten up to 3 a day (on top of my morning coffee) and realized that I wasn't drinking any water. If I had it in the house, I was going to drink it. When I didn't meet my "quota" I had awful headaches in the late evening. I decided to go cold turkey and it's worked. I still have my coffee in the am (no way in h**l I'm giving that up) but I stick to water at school and in the evenings. Now if I could just give up my new-found craving for Oatmeal Creme Pies...and no, I'm not pregnant and never will be again, so get that out of your head! :)
