Ty's favorite thing to do right now is to use made up words, usually in a nanny-nanny-boo-boo type sing song voice. Last week he used the words "poopy b.utt" about 400 times, directed at me, and in his mind it was the equivilent of the f word. Well he might as well have said the f word because I was so mad at him. He was intentionally saying it trying to see what my reaction would be. Time out didn't stop it, spanking didn't stop it, so I put him in his room and took every single toy (including pillows, which are often fun things to throw) and put them in time out. I had book shelves and toy boxes lining the upstairs so that Ty was in as close to "the hole" as possible. It worked, eventually. When he is not using his form of bad words, he is the polar opposite...precious, sweet and mannerly.
Last Sunday was Ty's first day away from the nursery and in Sunday School in the 3 yr old classroom. We put him in the nursery when we started going to this church and were waiting (for what, I'm not sure) to send him across the hall. He did awesome and loved every minute. When I went to pick him up,he was sitting at the table with the other kids coloring a picture of Paul and Silas and the theme was "thankfulness". I asked Ty about his picture and he said "can you teach me"...his new words when he doesn't know the answer...So we talked about thankfulness and saying the blessing as an example. I asked him if he could tell me one more thing about what he learned at Sunday School and he said that if you are bad, you go to jail. (so he mixes up playing cops and robbers at daycare with Sunday school, it's still a good lesson!)
Katie is talking, trying to walk, and wanting to play with whatever Ty has. She is going to be (really, she is) my fiesty one. This picture is from Memorial Day weekend. We had the equivalent of a water park in my neighbor's backyard (which connects to ours) and all of the local kids flocked to it! Katie was soaking wet within 5 minutes and my neighbor volunteered this bathing suit from her daughter's closet. I didn't realize that Katie was in need of a bathing suit, but I guess I do now! Have you ever heard of the saying that tan fat looks better than white fat? Well, Katie makes white fat look cute!!! (I know it's more like rolls, but they are just so squishy and kissable!)
She is talking up a storm and has several words that even you might understand...you know how Moms always understand, but get the kid talking to a stranger in Target and they have no clue what she is saying! She says: Jessie, car, outside, shoe, tree, cracker, Daddy, Mama, Ty and can sing EIEIO and EFG from the Alphabet Song.
As for me, school is out this Friday. I have been busy with grading and watching American Idol on Tuesday, the Results show on Wednesday and Gray's Anatomy on Thursday. I don't watch anyother show (cartoons and movies geared to 3 year olds don't count) and I loved to sit down and lose myself in those 3. Now that they are over, I can get to sleep earlier! I've got to figure out an exercise routine to get these last several pounds off. I just know that dieting can only take you so far...I've got to step it up. My goal is to figure something out that fits into my stay-at-home mom routine without joining a gym. I'm not sure if the morning or evening is going to be best, but I want to leave the kids' naptime for myself to also have a naptime!
Other than the occasional ant trail that appears in the house and Danny having to spray after Ty "smacks" them all and Jessie opening the fridge by herself and taking ribs out of the pyrex dish for her own little snack, nothing exciting is happing here.

Sounds plenty exciting to me!!
why are the second+ children the "fiesty" ones?? We first borns are the calm, collected ones ; ) Although in Madhatters house I think those roles might be mixed up...
Still - both are cuties!
I still vote for using bands as a resistance workout with running/ walking. It works at home without having to join a gym.
Great to hear from you. The kids are adorable
I l ove Katie's chubby yummy legs. I can see why you want to kiss them all the time!
