I'm one year older

Monday was my birthday and I had to renew my driver's license. During the eye exam I was told to "read line 4 in the middle" (the smallest was line 5). Fine. Then "line 4 on the left". Fine. Then "line 4 on the right". S**t. I could see it but it was fuzzy. I could not see the details. Was the first letter an B, P, maybe a 9 or a 3? Couldn't tell. You know how they use that computer-type font that makes all of the letters look like they were created with toothpicks and how moving one toothpick makes an S look like a G. So back to the exam...

BMV lady: "Read line 4 on the right"
Me: My clueless answer.
BMV lady: "Try that again"
Me: My slightly-more-confident answer (it was starting to focus more)
BMV lady: "Again"
Me: My finally-got-it-right answer.
BMV lady: "ok"

Hmmmm....never had issues with my eyes before. Am I getting old or did I not have enough coffee that morning?

On a lighter note, a coworker legitimately thought I was 29. I'll take it.

well happy belated to you! and if you've made it this long with no eye wear - congratulations. i can no longer read the cable menu on the tv screen, the computer screen at close range or my cell phone - and let's not eve talk about my driving without glasses. i'd been a contact wearer since college - but post baby hormones and changes have made me intolerant to them - so im all glasses all the time and love it. funky frames, cool sun glasses and all. make it fun :)

Happy Birthday....I guess that is one good thing about having poor eyesight all along, getting a stronger prescription each year is no biggie....I think I need to start an envelope for LASIK, now that you've reminded me that it only gets worse not better!!!!

Happy belated b-day!! I'm jealous... I've been wearing glasses since 4th grade... contacts since I was 12 years old... I'm blind as a bat. If you've made it this far count yourself lucky!!!
