A great dessert recipe that doesn't include chocolate! A friend shared this with me and I keep passing it on to others as if I created the dish. Believe me, once you try it, you will want to share this with anyone who has tastebuds! It must be cooked on-site...you can not travel with this one....and must be served with vanilla ice cream (vanilla bean is my favorite). I had regular ole' vanilla the other day and it reminded me of all of the little birthday parties that I take Ty to. I might as well have been eating it with a wooden spoon thingy!
Apple Dumplings
2 granny smith apples (the bigger the better), sliced into 8 wedges each
2 packages of cresent rolls (8 rolls per container)
2 sticks butter, melted
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
12 oz Mountain Dew
Roll each apple wedge into a cresent roll triangle (16 total). Place them into 9x13 Pyrex dish.
Then stir the sugar and cinnamon into the melted butter.
Pour the melted butter mixture all over the apple dumplings in the Pyrex dish.
Pour the Mountain Dew all over the apple dumplings coated with the butter mixture. (when it cooks, the Mtn. Dew turns the sugar/butter into a delicious, gooey yum)
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Let sit for approximately 10 minutes after removing from the oven.
Serve warm with ice cream on top!
Serves 8 (2 apple dumplings per person)
Please, please do not use the Splenda for baking, Diet Mountain Dew or lowfat ice cream in this recipe. As Danny says, "If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly!"

I concure with Danny! I'll have to try that - when it stops being 90-something degrees and 99% humidity here....
