We are going to try a new church this Sunday. It's still a part of the same church we have been going to, but we are going to try out the contemporary service in the sanctuary, instead of the super-contemporary in the family life building. Ty loved going to the old service because they always served doughnuts....what he associates with church. (Knows nothing about Baby Jesus, but knows all about Krispy Kreme.) I have been talking all week about going to a new church and that we won't have doughnuts, to hopefully avoid any major meltdown, because there are no doughnuts in the sanctuary. Go figure!
We have some neighbors that attend this service, but we aren't scheduling to meet up with them, and I really don't know them that well anyway. So, we are going in blindly. Not an issue, but I'm not sure what to do with Ty. Do I try to send him to the toddler room? I tried at the other service, but the toddler room/nursery in the family life building was a partition in the gym and no other children were in there with him. In the sanctuary, the toddler room will be a classroom setting with other children, doing cool activities, etc. I know he would enjoy it, but I'm not sure if he will stay there without me. And then Katie...do I send her to the nursery (again a room with cribs, etc.) and leave her, not knowing anyone in there? The neighbor that I talked to about the church had nothing but great things to say, but I still don't know anyone personally. Of course the other option is to take both kids into the service with us.
Any suggestions to ease my mind?

If you are home w/ the kids all the time--try leaving them both (not at home, in the nursery). I would prob at least leave Ty since he's older--you can always bribe w/ donuts for lunch! Our church has a beeper system and a matching tag system to help ease parental concerns--maybe this one does too? And if you keep going Ty will figure out the Jesus thing. For the longest time Jake called him "Cheesus", I guess he is the tasty savior.
Can't help you there - no kids and we're heathens... but donuts (even after service) can only help - not hurt ; )
I believe Zoo Keeper's comment deserves a "true dat, yo"
What?!?! No donuts?? :) Yeah I'm no help!
