My neighbor, friend, sitter and someone we love as a family memer (who is only 32) was diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday. I have been with her through the testing process and was completely shocked that the two tiny, tiny masses are cancer. Her doctors just knew that they had to be calcifications but for different reasons decided to pursue X rays, then an ultrasound, followed by an MRI and ultimately a needle biopsy because the prior results weren't conclusive enough. She has decided to have a double mastectemy and will be scheduling her surgery for early February. Do any of you have information you can share with her... or do you have someone that might be a great person for her to make contact with...or do you know of a blog out there that would be great for her to read? I know that physically we are so far apart but the internet is an amazing resource, especially when great people like my friends are involved!
Please lift Beth, her husband and three small children in your thoughts and prayers.

If your friend's church, or your church for that matter, have a Stephen Ministry program I would contact them and have a Stephen minister assigned to them. Could be a great resource for her during this time.
i would stay local - we'll all pray for her (and family and you) but the internet is a scary thing when you start researching illness... sometimes it's worse than the actual condition - so i'd be careful with that. i'd work through your church and hospital support groups. i'm sure there some local ones and if you look at the susan komen website - they might be a valuable resource... but that's about all the internetting i'd do.
i'll email my bible study prayer list and have them start praying for her. scary stuff is right.
I am signed up to walk in the Avon Breast Cancer walk in Octoober--39 miles in 2 days. Such a small thing in the face of Beth's huge challenge. I will add her name to the list of those I walk for--in the meantime I will pray.
I don't have anything else to offer at this point, but will ask some who have been there
I don't know of any blogs either, but I am sure that she could do a search for breat cancer survivor blog and some would come up.
I will deinitely keep your friend in my prayers.
I don't know of anything that would be of help but I'll be thnking of her!!!
I don't have any sort of support groups or blogs, but I do know two people who are survivors, if it helps. One is a girl I went to high school with who went through the same thing a year or two ago and she is a survivor. Kinda shocked me that someone so young would be hit with it. Also, my aunt is 10 year survivor.
I'm sure there is a local support group, even if not breast cancer, cancer in general.
