1) Katie's Swimming Lessons
I thought she was going to be my water baby...fearless, pissed I wouldn't let her go last time we were in the pool, mad when we had to leave, etc. I thought swimming lessons were going to be a joyous time for her and happily paid my $40 for four 30-minute sessions. Wrong. I have to be in the pool with her (which I am proud to say that I am not even concerned about being in front of strangers in my bathing suit. I have gotten over the "I'm not a size 6 anymore" thing) and there are 5 other children with their mom/dad. My kid is the crying-kid. Usually we aren't THAT kid, but Katie is this time. Today she melted down in the locker room while we were changing her into her swim suit and swim diaper. She stood naked in the locker room for approximately 10 minutes because she didn't "want to"..as she told me over and over. (There's a full length mirror in the locker room and every now and then during her fit, she would catch a glimpse of her naked body and stop crying for 4.2 seconds.) She's stubborn and it burns my type-A personality to have to do anything off schedule. Finally she got ready and with several more bouts of crying made it into the pool. Mind you all of the other kids are in the pool participating in the organized activities and Katie is sitting on the steps doing her thing. The teacher is great and says that because she is in the pool and having a good time then we can't count that a successful day. Great, I paid $40 for Katie to sit on the steps. I know she will be a good swimmer and will one day love the pool, but it will be on her time, not mine!
2) Ty's Swimming Lessons
Ty, my scared-of-getting-his-hair-wet-during-the-shampoo-phase-of-the-bath son, is my little fish. Funny how these things work, huh? There are 5 kids in the class with 1 teacher and no Mom/Dad. He has had 2 lessons and has done a great job listening and trying everything, even though he was aprehensive on the first day. He is super excited to go back every night and I know will be terribly offended when I tell him that Thursday is the last day. By the way, did you know that noodles can be tied into knots around kids? They make great floating devices!!
3) Summer free-time
If I don't start my graduate class soon I will have to take out a small loan for all of the shopping/eating out that I am doing. I have eaten lunch out almost every day (hey, teachers never get to eat out for lunch...I'm just catching up!)
4) Ty's in Bible School
Ty is having a great time at Bible school but doesn't want to tell me about it. He tells his sitter (who takes him and picks him up with a bunch of other kids) all about it, but not so much with us. Maybe when he's seven I'll here about it. I am sending him to a Bible school that is not at our church and he didn't know any of the teachers or his classmates and he has done a great job. I didn't expect otherwise, but I was curious to see how it would go.
5) Guilty obsession - Housewives of NJ
Did you stay up and watch the cat-fight last night? Can you believe that Danielle put the book on the table trying to stir the pot and then she said at the end how she didn't mean for the cat-fight to happen? Oh please.
6) Ty's favorite thing to do after his shower
Jump on the bed naked. Anytime that boy is naked and out of sight, we know what he's doing.

I LOVE Housewives of NJ. It's like a train wreck that I can't look away from. Throughout the entire season, I was convinced someone was going to put a hit out on Danielle. With that crew, I wouldn't be surprised.
Aw... swim lessons. I've been trying for years to get our dogs in our pool - for physical therapy. It's not happening. And if trying to get a kid in a pool (who doesn't want to go) is anything like a dog... then good luck.... ; )
