Running

The biggest motivator of this running thing is the fact that my pre-baby clothes don't fit and I don't want to have to spend a lot of money on work clothes in a new size. Running was the next option because it burns more calories in the same amount of time that I would spend walking. (Both money and time are what I lack right now! Although will there ever be enough of either?) I have had to move into it with baby steps and because Danny travels, I don't have a lot of opportunities to run...usually on the weekends and maybe 1 time during the week. I can tell I'm improving, but I've got a long way to go. I would love to tell you that I will be able to run a 5K sometime around the holidays. I think there's a "Jingle Bell" run somewhere around here. We'll see. Maybe by that time I won't have to put frozen florentine style veggies on my knees after I finish a run.

Make sure you get good shoes. Go to a RUNNING store and have them pick out your shoes. You might pay a little more for them, but your knees will thank you. I made the mistake of just going to a local place to get the exact same shoe that I already had, and of course, it doesn't fit the same.

I AGREE 100%% Go to a store where they know what they're talking about and will WATCH you run in the shoes. It made all the difference in my knees and hips. of course I'm also exceptionally flat footed... and I FINALLY went to a podiatrist and got orthodics....

Yeah, I'm with sarag, except I would say Kohls... Now that I'm not a swollen hippo with meatloafs as feet and vienna sausages as toes I'm in the market for new shoes...

Man, I want to run. Never tried. Always was a little chunky and just weird to boot. I really think I've got to try it, other than my knees and pride, it can't hurt. You go girl!!
