Race for the Cure
My girlfriend is battling breast cancer and we had a team of 32 members walking in the Race for the Cure today! It was amazing to see 46,000 people together in such a celebratory mood for such an awful disease. Our team was fortunate enough to be walking in "celebration of" rather than in "memory of" and I feel blessed that Beth has started her fight strong. She has undergone one chemotherapy treatment and will be going through 5 more (they are all spaced 3 weeks apart). She mentioned today that she expects to lose her hair after the next treatment. Several of her male family members, along with Danny, are going to shave their heads when it actually happens. One of the cool things about the Race today was that there was a team that was 7000 members strong. These 7000 people joined the team in memory of a local news broadcaster who lost her battle with breast cancer 6 months ago and they ALL wore neon pink wigs! Can you imagine seeing 7000 people in neon wigs? I highly recommend the Race for the Cure for anyone affected with or by breast cancer. It's empowering to see so many people fighting for the same cause...makes everyone realize that you aren't alone during the fight.

We do the Race for the Cure every summer here in DC. I always run in celebration of my aunt. It's amazing to see all these people come together for the same cause.
I'd love to see some pictures of the pink neon wigs!
Oh man - When I used to live in CO we did the Denver Race. It's the largest in the country - over FIFTY THOUSAND people!!!! Whew!
